In her final month of pregnancy, Susie uses her time on bed rest to relay tales of her life to her soon-to-be-born daughter, Britta.

Susie was fifteen years old when her mother passed away. Five years later, she learned that her paternity was a lie.

Motivated by the recent loss of a friend, Susie starts a journal with the hope that, in the unfortunate case of her own untimely passing, her precious daughter will not be forced to draw her own conclusions about her mother’s life.

Susie’s thoughts turn to the summer of 1999, when she was a fourteen-year-old outcast. As punishment, her father sends her to church camp where she encounters the boy who ruined her reputation with lies the previous summer. When he goes too far to get her attention, a twenty-three-year-old hero named Jerry Lyons steps in, sweeping Susie off her feet in the process.

After a few private talks in his cabin, Susie leaves camp desperately in love with Jerry, and hopeful that he will overlook her age and give her a chance to be more than his secret friend, but he soon breaks her heart.

Susie is distracted from her pain when she lands her first job, working alongside her mother, Priscilla. With her domineering father out of town, Susie gets closer to Priscilla and learns surprising new information about her.

To My Daughter Book One edition by Shaina Richmond Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Susie is on bed rest , and is writing a Journal for her unborn daughter, telling her all about her life when she was a young girl. About the relationship she had with her mother and father, and a special bond Susie had with her mother . This story keeps you wanting more ❤️. When reading it, I couldn't but it down. Kept me wanting do know what happens next. It's going to be a GREAT SERIES !! Already pre-order For Britta - Volume Two
For Britta is written like a diary, which is a great departure from your typical novel. I wouldn't call this first part of the serial romantic, it's definitely more about coming of age and the temptations that teenagers face every day. And there is somewhat of a cliffhanger, but it's not your typical cliffhanger (where either someone's life is on the line or a couple has broken up). It's the type of cliffhanger that leaves you wanting for more of Susie's back story, why she is the way she is in Safe With Me,
Susie tells the story of her coming of age, at 14, in a journal she is writing to her unborn daughter, who will be named Britta. Very enjoyable and I couldn't put it down. She tells how she came of age at a camp and how two older boys gave her that first experience and how she fell in love and what other things she experienced in her life growing up. Loved the ending when Susie and her husband, Tyler, discuss parts of the journal she wrote, it was awesome reading! I am glad that they went back through her journal and told the readers more. I can't wait to read Volume two! Shaina is a good writer and don't forget to read her series the Barbosa Brothers, under Reeni Austin and of course her "Safe with Me" eight part series.
For Britta is a letter written by Susie, as a way to tell her unborn daughter about the life she lead up to her daughters birth. This story helps you to see how Susie's early life made her the person she was before meeting her husband Tyler. Susie's hindsight shows that what she thought was fate, was basically a premeditated set up. She has Jerry and Elliot to thank for that. While away at church camp Susie meets Jerry, an older man almost 10 years her senior, and a camp counselor who takes a more than passing interest in her. They also realize they have a mutual acquaintance named Elliot. Elliot is the son of a preacher, whose father just so happens to be her pastor. Elliot is super slick and very manipulative, making his coercion seem like Susie's choice. Jerry is more kind and gentle, but don't let him fool you, he follows along easily with Elliot's plan.
I especially loved the part where Susie and Tyler spoke about her letter to Britta. I missed them a lot. This story kept me guessing. It went in directions I did not expect. Very original storyline. If you haven't read Tyler and Susie's story - Safe With Me, GET CAUGHT UP NOW !
IT'S AWESOME ! YOU DEFINITELY WON'T REGRET THIS ONE CLICK ! ! !
Wonderful story
Good book. I loved the way the author made it into a journal of some sort for Britta. Can't wait for the next installment in this series.
another great read by one of my favorite authors. Hope she continues with this story line and we get to meet baby. I also hope she turns this into a serial at some point. Keep up the good work love.
