This has gotten some 'top' reviews from some- so you may really love this. The reason I didn't is based on after reading the first 40% I was tired of the heroine going on and on and on with the nightmares and inner conflict -lying and, trying to hide the inner turmoil going on.At this point it still wasn't clear why she ran to Chicago and was running away from Reid/St Louis college scene- or why she was avoiding her family so much.It wasn't clear what the real cause of the nightmares were.Did anything happen or not?I dunno.
The books in this genre has a real challenge of not being repetitive of what's being presented for relationships-background wounds carried into present situations etc.- this was one that to me didn't surpass being repetitive and hit the weary drag in the story at the half way point.I stopped and deleted it.

Following Me edition by KA Linde Romance eBooks Reviews

“I just didn’t what you were running from, but I think, all along, you were running toward me.”

Devon is spending the summer in Chicago, with her best friend and her boyfriend. They think she’s just here for fun, but they have no idea what secret she is hiding and running from. And little does know that they are also hiding a secret of their own.

Devon wishes she could tell someone her secret, but she just can’t. She chooses to keep it close and always look over her shoulder ,not knowing that her secret is following her.

Hadley is her bestie with a secret that is slowly killing her. Devon tries to help her, but she doesn’t want help, until it’s almost too late.

Garrett is Hadley’s boyfriend and his secret is less physical damaging, but no less emotionally damaging. He is the one person who finds out Devon’s secret and powerless to help her.

Brennan is the cute bartender who falls for her and knows she is hiding something.

“Don’t you see that she’s here for a reason?” he whispered.

Devon tries to keep him at a distance, but she fails miserably.

When her secret follows her to Chicago, it almost takes her away. I was so upset reading it, I had to take a break. My stomach was in knots. I was terrified for her. TERRIFIED.

In the end the four of them save each other. It took some near death experiences, but it all worked out in the end. I was so happy, I cried.

“..my mama always told me that you are given a chance at greatness once in your lifetime…’when it hits you, you won’t know how you could have ever lived a day without. It’s like the universe aligned itself perfectly, just for you.’ I gave up hope on that long time ago, I think.”

“Belle…” he said softly, reaching for her.

“But I think I’ve known…well, especially after today,” Devon said. “I think I found what my mam was talking about. You’re my greatness.”

Someone please hand me a tissue….
This book was Great! Danger, Intrigue, Romance, it has it all. Devon is running away from all of her problems, she leaves everything behind, her family, school, her boyfriend. She is fleeing, to her best friend Hadley, only to discover, you can't run away from your problems forever, they will find you. Hadley has her own problems, and Hadley's boyfriend, well he complicates things as well. Enter the sexy, compassionate, bartender Brennan...just when Devon is starting to feel safe, it all comes crashing down. This book is about fear, healing, finding inner strength, acceptance, and starting over. It is not for the faint of heart. Some of the scenes in this book, were really scary. Devon feels she is being followed, watched. Nightmares plague her sleep. The author draws you into the story so well that you are afraid, and fighting the same emotions as Devon, throughout the course of the book. It will keep you edge, it will make you shiver, it will make you cheer. This story is not all rainbows and sunshine but it's realistic, in my opinion. The issues that Devon is hiding and struggling with, draw you in as a reader. When all is revealed, you are left, having an "ahhh haaa" moment, everything snaps into place. I don't want to ruin the story for anyone, who has not read this book, but with that being said, it is a must read! The author channels emotions, and sucks you in, to this world from page one. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! The writing is superb!!!
