Instant Attraction is the first book in Jill Shalvis’ Wilder Series. This book centers around Katie who was the sole survivor of a horrific accident. After her life altering experience she decides to make some major changes in her life and to stop living so safely. She jumps in her car and takes off for some adventures and winds up taking a temporary job at an outdoor adventure business. She’s settling in and enjoying herself until one of the owners arrives unannounced and asks Katie why she’s sleeping in his bed. Cameron Wilder suffered a career ending injury and is at a loss as to where he fits in and is struggling with the huge changes in his life. He’s been running for the past year and has finally come home even though he’s still reeling from the accident. The sparks fly between the two of them but they are both wounded and vulnerable. They both know that Katie's position is temporary, and when the time comes they'll simply move on but the more time they spend together the harder the thought of her leaving is for both of them.
Jill does an amazing job of mixing humor, fun and just the right amount of emotion and depth to the story. They are two damaged characters who are helping each other heal. Their romance is paced just right and their problems aren’t just swept under the rug but instead we get to see them face their fears and start healing. The secondary characters are entertaining and you learn just enough to want to continue to read to get to their stories.
Overall a wonderfully entertaining and moving story that will keep me coming back for more of the Wilders.

Shalvis serves up a credible story with likable characters and a fabulous setting of a snowy mountain wilderness. Heroine Katie's inner problem is fresh for a romance story. Hero Cameron, while tremendously sexy and handsome, comes across as more of a self-pitying whiner a few too many times, making him fall somewhat short of the ideal brooding alpha. Shalvis is obviously setting up storylines for additional books to come in this series, and one subplot in particular nearly steals the romance away from the main couple. Still, the book is a pleasant read. Shalvis fans will enjoy this launch to her Wilder series.
Who knew running an outdoor expedition company in the cold, rugged Sierra mountains would be so exciting?

This entertaining story is quite the new adventure for former LA resident, Katie Kramer, and a cold one too! Cameron and Katie have panic attacks in common. They also have near death experiences in common and they both have their own personal demons to overcome.

I love the friction between these two from the very beginning. Their instant attraction is very evident at the very beginning which keeps the pages turning. This story is full of humor, innuendo, adventure, danger and oh, yes, a hot, sexy Wilder! This story, its colorful characters and beautiful landscape is full of many intriguing details that a short summary can’t possibly do it justice. You have to read about this amazing family and experience their entertaining journey.

Ms. Shalvis has a way of writing that sucks you right in from the very first page. Each character is incredibly defined and loaded with personality. A heartwarming page turner keeps you imbedded in this love story until the very end.

I am always looking for new authors and new books to read so when I came upon Instant Attraction by Jill Shalvis, I decided to buy the whole Wilder series. I have heard great things about Jill Shavis' books so I was really excited to start this one! I figured by the description that this book would be a contemporary romance but for me, it ended up being more than that! I love the author's funny writing style, the quirky characters, and her ability to draw me in so that I couldn't help but devour this book in no time.

Katie Kramer has always played it safe and is very optimistic. She is the lone survivor of a horrible tragedy and needs to get away from Los Angeles so she heads to Wishful, California, a fictitious small town in the Sierra Nevada mountains and takes a temporary job with Wilder Adventures and Expeditions to live her life "balls out," trying new things and being brave and adventurous. Shortly into her month-long stay, she meets Cam Wilder in a rather hilarious situation, which sets the tone for the rest of the book. Cam is dealing with his own demons and together the two of them help each other out in more ways than one.

I loved this book with its funny dialogue, cozy small-town feel in Wishful, and the wonderful cast of characters that kept me so interested that I found it hard to put this book down. I usually don't continue on with the next book in the series right away so I can enjoy them and draw the series out a bit longer but in this case, I will be making an exception to my rule! If you enjoy good, fun contemporary romances, this would be a good choice. I am already looking into purchasing some of Jill Shalvis' other books because I loved this one so much!
