I actually really enjoyed the book. I happened to get it while it was free and honestly sometimes I am skeptical but I have read a lot of free books that I have enjoyed lately. This being one of them. My heart broke for angel. She had endured so much not just heart ache and break either but abuse. Abuse at the hands of a sadistic man who should of never been allowed to harm her if her mother was present and paying attention but she wasn't, she was more worried about money and living her own life. It pissed me off but that was ok because she found some pretty awesome people to call her friends and family. Loved jax. He's an amazing man for sure. I even had a few laughs. Worth the read.

Saving Ella Mercy Angels Volume 1 Kirsty Dallas 9781489535191 Books Reviews

I received this book free from and I am voluntarily writing a review. Ella is on the run from her sadistic, abusive stepfather and a mother who could not care any less. She has survived homelessness for 4 years and ends up at Mercy's Shelter for Abused Women where she meets Jax an Afghanistan vet with his own baggage. Slowly through friendship she learns to trust and healing takes place for both of them.
Ella is on the run from an abusive step father that vows to never give up looking for her. She meets Jax when he rescues her from a snow storm and brings her inside Mercy's Shelter, the woman's shelter his mom runs and he volunteers at. From the very first meeting, Ella feels safe with Jax. And Jax realizes there is something very special about Ella. He is drawn to the young woman but reminds himself that he needs to keep things on a professional level with Ella, she is vulnerable and he doesn't want to take advantage of her in any way. As a friendship develops, it becomes clear that staying away from her is going to be impossible.

"She was perfect and there was absolutely no way I was going to be able to keep a professional distance. As far as I was concerned, she was mine."

I pulled for these two characters from the very beginning. It is so obvious that as much as Ella needs Jax, he needs her just as much. He is so patient with her and it is wonderful to see how this relationship grows over time.

"One day at a time Ella, I'm going to give you a future and you're going to trust me with your heart"

I think sometimes I choose to read books by authors that can write great, melt your panties steam instead of great overall books. I'm not saying that you can't get both because you definitely can and I do, all the time. But a lot of times, I think I may sideline books that may be a little less sexually explicit because hey, I like to read a lot of dirty, trashy books. We all have our guilty pleasures. But Saving Ella reminds me that a great book can be so much more fun to read and a sweet love story sometimes means so much more than trash. I like visiting a world where a kiss can rock a world.

"Not a single thought could be processed. I was being kissesd by Jax Carter and the moment outshone every single crucial little moment of my life thus far. In this man's arms, in this man's hands I was being reborn and restored into the woman I should have been."

Saving Ella is absolutely the best kind of book to read. It came out of nowhere and made me believe in happy endings, especially for those that need them the most! It is well written, with well-developed characters. The story will pull you in from the beginning. The supporting cast is wonderful and I loved both main characters!

This title wasn't on my To Be Read list forever. I didn't read about it on a ton of blogs or read a lot of reviews. I saw the title show up in my GoodReads feed, saw the blurb, and one clicked it, no sample or anything. And I'm so happy I did. I loved this book! Kirsty Dallas...I'm a fan! Congratulations on a great debut Novel! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and am only disappointed I have to wait until later this year to get Charlie and Rebecca's story. Definitely a top must read for me
This is an absolutely, super-duper, wonderfully, 5 stared, fantastic, intense and engaging read! This book had me glued from jump with the very intense prologue; I couldn't put it down. I stayed up until 430 in the morning reading and as soon as my boyfriend woke up, I dove into all the details of my latest read with him. I haven't felt this enthralled with a book in a long time.

If I could vote, Ella and Jax are hands down the best hero and heroine of 2013. Jax is the perfect guy, I mean so perfect that he even likes chic flicks. He has a heart of gold and has dedicated his life to his country and helping abused women. His inner thoughts were hilarious at times and had me laughing out loud looking like a big goof to those around me. In my book, he takes the cake for the #1 best book boyfriend EVER. And Ella, her strength and determination just melts my heart. I just wanted to jump through the book and give her a BIG hug! Her character is not a weak damsel in distress type. She is strong and she is a survivor, her character was a breath of fresh air.

This is the best book I've read in a long time and the best prologue I've ever read. I can't wait to read the second book in the Mercy's Angels series. Thank you Kirsty Dallas for writing such a beautiful book!
The first in Kirsty Dallas’s Mercy Angels series is a beautifully hard look at those who suffer at the hands of their abusers. Kirsty shows how easily a young girl’s life can take a dark path through no fault of her own. At the hands of an abusive stepfather her spiral into darkness and self-destruction is inevitable, to survive Ella must leave.
After years running, living on the street or women’s shelters Ella finds herself at Mercy’s. Run by Mercy and her son Jax, Ella finds herself settling in to the community. Jax an ex-soldier has demons of his own, finds he’s drawn to protect Ella from the dangers that are determined to find her.
Kirsty’s characters show true strength, courage and determination while dealing with hardships that ultimately finds them some peace, normalcy which we all deserve.
I’d recommend this to those who don’t have triggers to abuse, you will laugh, cry and be moved.

*Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life.*
By Harvey Fierstein
